In July 2025, Kerrville first responders answered the call during devastating flooding that impacted their community and surrounding areas. Police, fire, and emergency response personnel worked tirelessly under extreme conditions to conduct search and rescue operations, support recovery efforts, and protect lives when it mattered most.
NDTA North Texas and the University of North Texas are honored to recognize the courage, professionalism, and selfless service demonstrated by Kerrville’s first responders during this critical event. Their dedication and leadership exemplify the very best of public service and community resilience.

Team Rubicon is a veteran-led humanitarian organization that serves communities before, during, and after disasters. Founded in 2010 by U.S. Marine Corps veteran Jake Wood following the Haiti earthquake, Team Rubicon was built on the belief that decisive action saves lives—and that communities are strongest when people step forward to help.
With a nationwide presence and deep roots in Texas, Team Rubicon has supported countless disaster response and recovery operations across the state, mobilizing thousands of trained volunteers—known as Greyshirts—to assist with emergency response, recovery, and rebuilding efforts. Their work brings speed, structure, and compassion to communities facing some of their most challenging moments.
